What IS Upcycling?

Now that we've introduced you to our company, you may be wondering,

What IS Upcycling?

I briefly explained it in the last post, but I thought I would go into more detail in this one.
Urbandictionary* says, Upcycling is:

"The practice of converting waste materials into products of greater value"

WizeGeek* says, Upcycling is:

"A process in which disposable or discarded items are repurposed to make them valuable, useful, or simply aesthetically pleasing."

About.com* says, Upcycling is:

"[T]he practice of taking something that is disposable and transforming it into something of greater use and value"

For Non-Profits, Upcycling is,

"A solution to raising money without having to write a check!"

For corporations, Upcycling is:

"A solution for bridging corporate sustainability and employee engagement with capital sourcing for non-profits!"

For the Environment, Upcycling is:

"A solution to protecting the planet and all of it's inhabitants!"

To us, here at Causes International, Upcycling is:

"The transformation of a useless item into a useful item, keeping it out of the waste stream and creating funding for causes throughout the world!"

Stay Green,

Ashley
